WTH is up with Dimarzio prices online?

I noticed recently that the prices on Dimarzios have gone way up at GC online in the last month. Same thing at Musicians Friend, Sam Ash, etc. A Super D that used to cost around $64.95 is now $79.99! Same thing with stuff like the FRED, Tone Zone, PAF Pro, etc. All jumped up to $80 a pop. It doesn't look like Dimarzio upped their list prices or anything, so I'm wondering what the hike is for?

It's actually cheaper now to get a Duncan over a Dimarzio! I know we're only talking about a $15 hike, but that tips the scales to Duncan, IMHO. I like both and have always been a Dimarzio fan, but it looks like I've got one less reason not to go Duncan if I'm on the fence w/ my next pickup purchase.

I've noticed the same thing. Overall, the new pricing seems more in line with what most retailers are charging for Duncans, which is their only direct competitor.

Yeah the lower price eschelon of duncans is about $72-73, the next up is about $80, then it starts jumping up to about $95 for stuff like the Screamin' Demon, Pearly Gates, etc.

Darn! I liked being able to get Dimarzios for about $63-65 a pop!

LOL!! or cool looking fridge magnets if you bend the legs out!! personally, I dont gel with DMZs. always sound too mid honky for me. I like the super d. In my current harum of axes, I think I have one dimarzio in use, and that is a VV blues in the mid position of my RG570. most are Duncans and about 5 others are diff makers..

Supply and Demand? Demand goes up, prices go up.

This will never take effect me, the only DiMarzio pickups I've liked is their jazz bass pickups. Everything is getting more expensive, unfortunately.
