wylde les paul?

Re: wylde les paul?

I've never played an edwards, but I've played the zakk wylde, IMO its not worth the money. 800 for an epiphone, and its not just becuase of the name. I played some epiphone les paul studios that played better than the wylde. It had a very uncomfortable fretboard and neck on it, at least to me. But go out and try one if you like it.

Re: wylde les paul?

The best part of the wylde is the maple neck, I just don't like mahogany ones unless they're painted. Plain maple = omg yes.

the biggest turn off on the wylde is the roseweood fretboard for me
If you're like me, you love the Camo one because it has a Maple NECK and Maple FRETBOARD!!! WHOOO!!!!

Yeah, it's pretty awesome.

That's me. The one I played, if it had an ebony fingerboard, would have probably been the best epiphone I'd ever played. It was still up there, though.

For that price, I'd just save up a little more and get a used Heritage, though.

Re: wylde les paul?

I played the epiphone bullseye. The body felt smaller than my Gibson Les Paul. The neck was alot smaller than my Les Paul Custom, and the guitar was very heavy. I don't like the rosewood fretboard and fake block inlays, which are smaller than Gibson block inlays.

Re: wylde les paul?

As a general rule of thumb

MIJ Clones are much nicer than Korean/Chinese clones.

That said, I find *most* of the Epi sig paulas to be a step above *most* Run of the mill epis. The couple of Aces I've played, the Boneyard, and most of the ZW's IMO have been pretty decent guitars...though I think they are priced about $200 too high.

For the same money go MIJ, i.e. Edwards/Tokai/Greco/Burny/Orville/Japiphone

im probably gonna go with this http://www.katanaguitars.com/main/top.html (the white lp custom )after i sell my 61 sg

If you're looking for a good reference, he sold me two of my Grecos. They were both as described and were excellent instruments. I've kept both of them and been playing them consistently for almost two years now.

I had to exercise phenomenal restraint from getting that 56 Les Paul, the Cherry Sunburst and any one of the 335's.

Yep..Tak (fellows name @ Katana) is awesome to deal with. Fast shipping too. 3 days from Tokyo to the door. Highly recommended.

FYI..the Katana site though is not updated so much...he doesnt always have that stuff in stock on the webpage I believe. His Ebay auctions are prolly the way to go...just email him..he usually gets back to me within 24 hours. I think I may have to order up one of those Edwards Hamer Standard copies from him for a B-day present for myself come Fall.

I know...funny huh? :laugh2: I didn't get rid of the Hamer at the time tho cos I wanted to, I got hit hard with some bills.

Thing is, the Edwards are about 1200 cheaper than a Hamer (new)...and usually 2-3 pounds lighter. I had a real issue with my Hamer's weight...that thing hurt my back more than any Les Paul I ever owned :blackeye: If I could find a lightweight USED Standard thats a burst, I'd go with that too.

Re: wylde les paul?

I just got to see a Custom Authentic Zakk Wylde Les Paul at West Chester Music today.

What a cool looking guitar. It's got the dings and dents and cracks in the paint. Number 10/50. You could probably trick someone into thinking it was really one of his used guitars. :laugh2:

Re: wylde les paul?

Do yourself a favor and just get a japanese copy Paul like an Edwards...so much better for the money.
