X-over fried or tweeter fried?

I bought a set of JBL powered 15" speakers today fro 140.00, and both HF's drivers do not work, however LF drivers operate at full volume. Are the tweeters fried, or are the crossovers toasted? Or both? How to tell? Just hook up another tweeter to them? I can get replacement tweeters for 76.00 each from JBL, and also probably the crossovers.Im guessing its more likely the tweeters are fried?

Re: X-over fried or tweeter fried?

if you have a multi-meter, you can test to see if there's any voltage across the two lugs on the tweeter. if there is, then you can assume that the crossover's fine, and replace the tweeters. if there is no voltage, then you'll want to look at the crossover circuit.

Thanks. Im not too good with electronics. what setting do I put my multi-meter on to check voltage? thanks
