X2N - hot rails - air norton

hi guys,

the name of this thread is combination which i want to drop into my japanese basswood RG570.

bridge: X2N
middle: Hot rails
neck: Air Norton

what do you say? I am hoping to get a powerfull machine, with ability to get some sweet/warm tone out of it too, and i figured that the hot rails could be the right downstep in power between X2N and air norton.

i have to admit that i didn`t changed many pickups in my life, so any suggestion is quite welcome...i fear that i could be totally wrong.

so, thanks for any feedback!
cheers

If you're looking for power in the bridge/mid positions and a good pickup for solos in the neck, I think you've got a damn good combination there. It'd be hard to beat if you ask me.

that is exactly what i`m trying to get. i hope you are right ;)

fact is that i`m not worried about those dimarzio`s cause everybody tells me they sound just right in basswood, but i`m clueless when it comes to hot rails and basswood.

almost everybody drops it in alder/ash strats, so i can`t find a relevant info.

thanks for encouragement ;)

Well, a lot of DMZ pickups were made to fatten the sound of thin-sounding Ibanez guitars. The Hot Rails is pretty fat, especially the mid/neck model. You should have no problem with anything sounding thin in your guitar.
