well i ordered a HFH but the shop got a X2N by mistake which im kinda interested in too so im consedering wether or not to take it instead of the HFH.

im putting it the bridge position of an alder body strat style guitar with a tune o matic and rosewood fingerboard.

i like nice crunchy heavy distrotion and 80's more natural tube dist
so tone range is:dokken, racer x,megadeth countdown and youthanasia, extreme, jake e lee.......

ive decided to give dimarzio a try cuz im always looking for something new.got some very nice SD's and a bill lawrence L500xl which is great.

of the 2 (X2N ,HFH) which is better? i do want the pickup do have a nice clean tone too.

DiMarzio says the HFH is a glassier sounding pup. The output is fairly low. The name doesn't mean it is a scorcher, apparently. I haven't used it myself. I have used the X2N on and off for over 20 years, and I can tell you that it is a sledgehammer! Most of the time I had it in an alder bodied Strat, running into various Marshall, Hiwatt, or Fender amps. Withe the Fender and Hiwatt, I used an OD. The Marshall was a JCM 800, OD not needed. IMHO, the mistake was a happy mistake! Try the X2N, if you don't like it DiMarzio has an exchange policy with new pups. The clean, BTW, isn't the greatest, but rigging it series/split, or series/parallel may do the trick there.

Despite it's name, the H from H is a low output single-coil emulating humbucker, it's light and glassy sounding like a Strat. The only thing to compare to an X2N would be a Duncan Invader, that's a loud and heavy pickup!

DO NOT INSTALL A HFH IN THE BRIDGE OF ANY GUITAR according to the Dimarzio website. The HFH is pretty much a neck pup, if installed in the bridge, you will know why it is called (big deep manly voice needed here) The Humbucker from Hell!!

Hails man
I HAD one
if you use lots of distortiohn, stay away from the HFH.
it´s for using in the neck, for CLEAN solos, or with MILD overdrive leads.
cause, if you put too high gain distortions.. it will get muddy easily
Also... i recomend you keep the X2N bridge...
but a super distortion will fill your needs better.
and for the neck, you will be extremely satisfied with the AIR NORTON
total ****ing smooth, and awesome for leads.
