Yamaha 611 HFM - any opinions to share?

I like the guitar in the title very much (according to the specs I read). Unfortunately I can't see it in any shop nearby so I have to hear it on YouTube videos. Do any of you have any experience/opinion to share? Thank you very much.

Howdy there EmoPunk.

I bought a Yamaha 611HFM Trans Black last year and have been absolutely blown away by it's build quality and tone options. The build quality is amazing considering the price. I own a Gibson ES-333 and the Yamaha blows it out of the water. The action was a little high when I got it but that's easy fixed. As for the pickups and sounds I was very impressed, it does have quite high output so if you have a telecaster switching to this will give you a sound boost. The only draw back for me is the 60cycle hum from the P90. I know that is to be expected but on higher gain sounds it's pretty in your face. Serious Noise Gate is required. If you do split the coil on the CustomV pickup the noise drops in the middle position so that's handy. I'm considering swapping the p90 out for a stacked p90. I just don't know if it'll fit.

In short for the price it's seriously a guitar that is worth buying. I literally haven't played my other two guitars since purchasing my 611. I use it live. I also know that Lewis Allen (Session guitarist who played with Jessie j was using them). He had modded the pickups however. This video is what sparked my interest in them https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hclNa99dFsU&t=327s

Cheers,
Josh.

I don't have a 611HFM, but I have a 611VFM and a 311H and both are fantastic guitars. I replaced the stock pickups on my 311H with a Perpetual Burn in the bridge and a DiMarzio Virtual P90 in the neck as you can see the pic below. My 611VFM is at the guitar tech getting a setup and the pickups replaced with a JB (A2 magnet) in the bridge and a Virtual P90 in the neck.

Wow nice guitar. love the colour. I would've loved that colour but couldn't get for the 611. How do your coil splits work? Is it still just on the one tone knob? Perhaps I might have to look a bit more into the Virtual P90. Are you happy with it's tone?

Hope the OP wasn't in too much of a hurry for those responses...

Really like the virtual P90. Good, thick tone full on similar to what I've heard from a P90 and split it sounds more like a Strat type single coil. Cleans up nicely also. The coil split is only on the tone knob and will split both pickups.
