YJM Fury vs. Injector

Howdy. I'm wondering how the Fury compares to the HS-3. What I didn't like about the HS-3 was that it wasn't aggressive. It was to dull, even without a tone control wired to it and I wished it to have at least as much output as a vintage strat pickup! I'd describe it as smooth and soft.

I have read the Fury pickups are hotter from some folks but I'd like to hear it from those who have compared them. The Dimarzio Injector clips I've heard sound pretty good. But the specs are smilar to the virtual solo, and I didn't like that one much either.
I had a Virtual Solo and did not like it. It too was soft, kinda buttery. no punch or percussiveness. Kind've a keyboard like tone for leads. I like more attack in the top end. I like to hear the pick being aggressive, not that buttery soft sound. I think Dimarzio recommends using a 500K and I didn't want to do that because my other pickups are regular vintage style.

Does the Fury keep the more aggressive top end, does it have punch compared to any of these?

anyone try the Injector bridge pickup?

Also, where can you get the special no lube volume pots I've read about for over a year now? I've asked Duncan awhile back and they didn't know. I'd like to try one.

Re: YJM Fury vs. Injector

Frankfalbo said the YJM high speed volume pots should be shipping in a couple weeks.

I believe the YJM Fury is designed to work best with 250K pots, at least that's what's in Yngwie's guitars.

I'm interested in this too because I'd like to find a punchy and aggressive strat neck pickup and was looking at the Fury neck and Injector neck. I know the Fury is higher output than the HS-3, but I'm anxious to know how much higher output, and how much high end punchiness it has overall.

Cool on the pots finally coming in. I wonder if they're just the same as EVH 250K's , since they're both Bournes and also friction free and supposed to be similar taper. What else could be different, besides having YJM stamped on the back instead of EVH?

I've read horrible quality on the EVH, quite a few times.

Re: YJM Fury vs. Injector

The EVH pots are fantastic... idiots are relating the loose feel to poor quailty.
The loose feel is the whole point of the YJM and EVH pots.

The EVH are also a whole lot cheaper in the UK than the YJM pots are going to be.

I had a previous thread discussion with Frank about the UK price being a total rip off.

I can get the EVH ones for £8 and they're quoting £14 for the YJM.
The only difference is the EVH is a solid shaft.

That's because you need to get off you ass and be aggressive.

Be the Yngwie!!

No, it was about the quaility. They'd work okay a few weeks then go bad. Stuff like that.

Sometimes even his bridge pickup tone can be a little flat to me. I'm not using a '72 Marshall, four inputer like him. With that setup, I'd probably want a pickup that would mellow that out a bit too.

I'm mainly concerned with the bridge pickup. I'm hoping it to have more punch and body than the HS3. I know I'll have to sacrifice some stuff, like a nice position 2 notched tone.

Re: YJM Fury vs. Injector

I'm really hard on my guitar's volume pots.

I've had the EVH pot in my Silhouette since it was released and has been played 8 hours a day ever since.

Not a single problem with it.

I'm a huge fan... best thing EVH has done for years :biglaugh:

I don't take much notice of people's reviews because they're just looking for reasons to be negative.

If the quailty was poor Duncan wouldn't have turned to Bourns to make the YJM pot !!

Re: YJM Fury vs. Injector

I don't know about the YJM but I just bought some injectors for my strat a few days ago. I've been preoccupied with my Ibanezes but I have played it a few hours since I upgrade the pickups. The Injectors are awesome! They are very versatile. Before I got them, I was planning on using something like a Hotrails, but I decided to give Injectors a try.

They're not super hot but they have a nice output for stratty pickups. They work for some great sounding clean, aggressive rhythms, and wild lead sounds. They're fairly fat sounding in my opinion. The neck pickup floors me. I love it.
