I'm due to get this guitar on Tuesday

It's a 91 American standard, andf it's supposed to have YJM Fury pickups

My concern is that there is no YJM stamp on the pickups.

I spoke to the seller and has reassured me that some of the early run YJms had no markings on them. Is her telling the truth or pulling a fast obne

Having never owned a strat before I dont know what to look for when I pull the pickups out to check before pulling the trigger.

If theese arent Furies then I wont be buying the guitar.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Re: YJM Pickups, no badge?

1991 pre-dates SD YJM Fury pickup production by quite some margin.

A Fender Malmsteen signature Stratocaster of that period would have been fitted with a Fender American Standard centre pickup and two DiMarzio stacked coil, noise-cancelling pickups. Some examples of the latter came with a discreet Dimarzio logo next to the E and B string polepieces.

I know the pickups were fitted some time after the guitar was first bought, along with roller treesBand a bone nut.

I wont get to see the guitar till tuesday but the guy im getting the guitar off is a curious as i am.

Thanks for that!

The guy that I'm getting off is getting a little flaky, as he's worried that he might have been taken a loan of by the person he bought it off last week (He buys and sells hundreds of guitars a year, gets one, plays it for a day then moves it on), I get a lot of gear off him and I'm really keen for this guitar, but still wont take it if the pickups arent right.
