I agree completely. I was thinking about taking four of the strings off.I have heard both the 12 and 8 string versions of that bass and I think the 8 string version sounds better. It just seems like with the 12 strings you get this big wash of overtones while the 8 strings tone is clearer and more distinct.
I've actually done that before. It seems like I recall it not sounding very good like I thought it would.I'd just tune that 2nd octave to a 5th instead of an octave and have a power-chord thing going.
That bass plays better than alot of regular six string guitars that I've played. The action on it is unbelievable......same as with the red one. Carvin guarantees their action on the basses to be 3/32" and it sure as hell is. They play like butter.i do love that green carvin tho
