you know what i love?

Snoogles

Cranky-dologist
when you've been really depressed for a long time, like months, and your guitar has been neglected, collecting dust in a corner, and you look at the thing, and you don't even remember what you're supposed to do with it, and then out of sheer desperation to force a change you pick up that guitar, put on this song:

and you start jam'ing along, and creating an accompaniment like you're right there in the studio, and the life-energy starts flowing back into your blood, and your muscles and your bones, and you leave that stupid brain behind, as you surf out of the solar system on a "paul laviolette galactic super-wave".

sorry, just had to make a self-congratulatory post about a looooong hiatus from playing because of mental issues, and returning even better than when i last left off.

yeay me

Re: you know what i love?

Sitting down with Hendrix is like returning to the source from whence good guitar playing sprouted from....same with Led Zep, AC/DC, Sabbath, Deep Purple, Beatles, Stones, Allman Bros, and the best blues.

I really only appreciate guitar players who've drank from that well. It's like returning to the reason for the electric guitar.

Yeah, it's important to branch out from there, but if that's not the core, it's not going to hit me the same way.

Welcome back to life Bro! And if you can play with the master of the stratocaster, then congrats! I put on Hendrix and I go INTO the funk you are coming out of.. ; )

But the guitar is very therapeutic!
