You like Warmoth? Because I hope I will.

My guitar collection is now complete if this warmoth is to my liking. No more buying or selling for a long time. I think I can rely on Warmoth's reputation alone and it will obviously be like playing a nice strat from Fender, or hopefully better. A PU swap is probably in order. I love the look of this thing and I wouldn't want it to be an exact replica of SRV's strat. I was a little surprised nobody else bid. Both bids were from me, I just placed the 2nd in case I was outbid. Tell me if you guys like it.

Here's a fender that is basically the same to compare with. I think the warmoth will play just as nice and has better components.

Try a neck swap being in order ... that chunk out of the fretboard scares the crap out of me

I have never played an american fender or gibson that I liked.

With that said, Warmoth has to stake their reputation and sales on quality, whereas fender sells with name recognition alone and for that reason are able to offset slips in quality.

I have to say a Warmoth build is almost always going to be better than an off the shelf Fender.

Yes, that had me a little concerned. I really don't think it will affect playability though. I would rather keep it if the frets are in good shape, otherwise it's kind of a waste to replace it if it's only a cosmetic problem.

Agreed. I would just play it first and see how it feels.

Looks like a great buy.

whether or not it's license, I don't think they should put a decal on it ... kind of a no no, especially on auctions .. isn't it?

Mine has a Fender decal, and a Fender custom shop V neck plate with a fake CS serial number. But if I ever sold it I would make sure it's known that its a Warmoth replica and not a real Fender.

Good news is: A right hander shouldn´t really notice, a leftie would ;)

Yes and no. On a guitar that someone never plans on selling, or on a replica, I have no qualms with it. AS LONG as whoever did it makes absolutely clear in the sale that it is not original equipment

The problem is usually that somewhere along the lines someone buys it, knowing it´s a replica, then sells it as real, instantly making it a forgery. That is not only underhanded, but illegal in many places as well ;)
