So I've finally gotten all my parts together to finish my LTD project. Alnico 2 Pro HB bridge, Cool rails in the neck. The neck's cut for a single coil so I'm putting on some plastic HB covers to make it look smooth. 3-way LP switch on the upper bout, 2 500k dual concentric pots and 1 500k with an Orange Drop as master tone.
I get my concentric pots and check them out...short shaft, and I'm pretty certain the guitar came with long shaft stock. Drats... Open up the control cavity, yup, long shaft stock, and the holes aren't large enough either.
So did I give up? HELL NO! I grabbed the Makita cordless drill and widened the holes. Okay, so now the posts will fit through but still too short. Gonna have to ever so carefully boar out the wood. Throw some socks on the drill press table to keep it from scratching too badly, chuck up a boaring bit and set the depth. Okay man, steady hands, steady hands...slowly...slowly...
WHEW! Got it! And it fits. Now I just have to do the other one, it went pretty smoothly.
So now the nuts are on there just enough to tighten the pots down and hold them in place. Get everything wired up all right. I now have two humbuckers with independent volumes and independent spin-a-split controls. It was about 10:00pm when I finished the wiring so today I just have to condition my fretboard and string it up. Looking forward to finally finishing this baby up!!!
Once I decide I'ma gonna do something, it's gonna get done. I just lucked out that I didn't deface the guitar too badly this time.
People say "No way Ken, you can't make it fit. There's no way you can do that!" and I say "B***h please! IT's just a matter of subtracting a little wood."
