Your fave speaker configuration (2x12,4x12,4x10 etc..)

What is your favourite speaker configuration and why ?

Mine is 4x10 open back combos because it find it tighter with fuzzes and has more spread and less boom then 4x12s. My second choice would be a 1x15 because it has a nice thickness to it and when tweaked and eq'd right it can sound bigger than it is and make a 1x15 combo sound like a 4x12 cab when that sound is wanted. Third is the typical 1x12 only because I have a Traynor YGL2 combo 1x12 that rips !

here are pictures of my amps

Yeah I really like v30s aswell... I have never had a bad experience with them

Double super oversized 2x12. My cab is 40"x30"x12" and it just roars like a mf.

Re: Your fave speaker configuration (2x12,4x12,4x10 etc..)

I cant move a 412 by myself really, at least dont want to

Josh H plays the 212 ampeg v22 combo amps

I like closed back 212s, mine is a 212PPC orange so it is 62 pounds too heavy for me

I wanna get an orange 212PPC open back cab, convert it to closedback cab, and put neodymiums in it to save weight. yes, a tone reduction, but I dig closed back cabs and will sacrifice for the weight. hey, I might even think it sounds better. then they will weigh 35 pounds per cabinet and I will get two cabs to stack on each other.

Re: Your fave speaker configuration (2x12,4x12,4x10 etc..)

I thought Josh used the Ampeg VT-40.... I guess the vt-22 is just the 2x12 version of the VT-40 anyways...

I find those oversized 2x12s always sound BIG but I have a bassy sound so I like tightness in my amps but every rig is different.

Gee - this is similar to a poll run a few weeks ago...

Re: Your fave speaker configuration (2x12,4x12,4x10 etc..)

yeah 15" speakers are amazing with Guitar I found with my setup aswell

2x15 is easily my favorite sound for guitar, in general. I don't play that way out though, only at home. My 2x15 is an absolute bear to lug around. Old '70's Ampeg cab with JBLs. No wheels, lousy "strappy" handles, and I have a small four door car (the interior of which I actually want to keep in decent shape this time). Forget it!

true enough, I gig with a 1x12 because we are mic'd most of the time and it is a breeze to travel around with. 2x15 would be amazing I have only tried 1x15 combos

2x12 open backed Bluesbreaker styled cab with a JTM45 head. At some point I'm going to add a second 2x12 BB cab.

Re: Your fave speaker configuration (2x12,4x12,4x10 etc..)

I'm into 4x10 and 2x12, closed back, mono. One day, I would like to play around with a ported closed back 2x12.

I have a 4x12, 2x12, and 4x10. All sound different and have different purposes. But if I'm picking one, probably the 4x10; open back with Celestions.

that's what i'm talking about! I can't get enough of the 4x10 sound... I use 2 jensens and 2 mesa 10" speakers in my Lonestar Special and they sound great but I'm sure Celestions sound amazing too, I love the vintage 30..

Re: Your fave speaker configuration (2x12,4x12,4x10 etc..)

2x10 open back. For the PUNCH.

I'm just not a fan of bassy guitar or flub. 12" really does little for me or the tones I dig. Let the bass handle the bass. But 10" is a mule kick to the face!
