Re: Your Favorite 30-60 Watt Tube Combo?

My 68 Pro reverb is pretty coo.

Re: Your Favorite 30-60 Watt Tube Combo?

Traynor YCV40, I tested that amp out for over an hour in the sound room at the local shop, Plugged in with a Highway 1 Strat, and it was such a sweet tone. Although the only ones I tried were the Peavey Classic 30 and the Mesa F30. In my opinion the Traynor is a little nicer than those ones, and also cheaper.

Edit: I played the YCV40WR - 40w version it has a Celestion Vintage 30, and is powered by Sovtek tubes. What a perfect combo for blues and rock. Its not going to excel in metal or harder rock, but its a great blues amp.

Marshall JCM 4212 (2205 Circuit). 50 watts of tonal bliss.

Re: Your Favorite 30-60 Watt Tube Combo?

I'd have to say my Fender 75. It's actually just a touch over 60 watts, but it's still one of my favorite sounding amps.

Traynor YCV40 ... I own one and it's in my bed room right next to my tele.

Re: Your Favorite 30-60 Watt Tube Combo?

I just got the Blues Junior SWEET!!

I have a Blues deluxe thats great too But loud for my appartment

Re: Your Favorite 30-60 Watt Tube Combo?

My custom vibrolux reverb falls under that category, and I'd prefer it over those amps, though the bassman will give it a run for it's money.

The fender bassbreaker is also a great amp. And there is a multitude of boutique amps as well. Gibson make a nice class a 30w amp, too.

Re: Your Favorite 30-60 Watt Tube Combo?

actually one of the best tones i ever heard was a strat thru a fender twin and a vox ac30, that's right, at the same time

Re: Your Favorite 30-60 Watt Tube Combo?

i love my jr, i play it more than any of my other amps. its probably down to 11w so it wont cut it for anything more than a small club but it sounds killer, everybody loves it.
its great but there are other amps i like. ac30 is nice, the tweed bassmans sound great. a buddy of mine just got a 59 a few weeks ago i am very very jealous, especially cause hes 18!! great player though. a bluesbreaker is basically a bassman with 12's, i actually like it a little better, probably cause i like 12's better.
blackface deluxes sound really nice too but again they are great small clubbing amps, same thing with the 18w marshalls. a super sounds good with some stuff too.
there are too many amps that are great for me to decide, i didnt even mention the rt66 or vibroking or some crazy thing called a sex amp or furry amp. carr, two rock ohh the many choices

Re: Your Favorite 30-60 Watt Tube Combo?

A JTM45 (28w, so almost qualifies ;)), Marshall JTM60 and an AC30 are all amps I love in the 30w-60w range.

I'd love to play all those Fender amps on that list too :)

Re: Your Favorite 30-60 Watt Tube Combo?

Can the Traynor or the Fender do distortion? Perhaps driven by a Tubescreamer or something?

Re: Your Favorite 30-60 Watt Tube Combo?

My 60w Ampeg Reverberocket. I wasn't even looking for an amp when I tried one out, and ended up getting one. Crystal clear highs, growling distortion, awesome amp.

The traynor I used had clean, high gain, and classic gain channels. But it would probably sound off the wall with a tube screamer.

Re: Your Favorite 30-60 Watt Tube Combo?

the jtm 45 should put out 45w. its basically a tweed fender circut. look at the plate on a tweed bassman, then the jtm 45. very similar - 4 inputs 2 vol, treble, mid, bass, presance. not the same but pretty similar, both great amps.

any tube guitar amp can get distortion. turn it up all the way and itll distort. try it with a twin and the cops'll be knocking if you have neighbors. some just get a little fuzzy and some sustain very nicely

You don't need a pedal with the Traynor, its overdrive channel kicks some serious booty on its own. But then again, I hate distortion pedals anyway (I'd rather get the distortion straight from the amp).
