Re: Your input on the new Eminence line of speakers
Happy Birthday SoCal.
I have a Governor, a Ramrod, and a Screamin' Eagle. I have heard a Private Jack and a Wizard in person.
The Governor is muchly in the mold of a V30. It is a bit smoother, I think a smidge darker, and lacks that annoying upper-mid spike V30's have. The Wizard is a bit more balanced, a bit brighter, more mid-focused due to the lessened bass. The Private Jack is even brighter than the Wizard, and is a great replacement for a Celestion Greenback.
The Screamin' Eagle is about where the Private Jack is, may be a bit brighter, but with an American flavor, hence the Patriot tag. It is also smoother than the PJ. It worked great for me trying to add some smooth treble to a dark British amp.
There are some parallels her comparing Eminence and Celestion and Duncan and Dimarzio. Duncan's and Dimarzio's don't sound the same even if their eq's and output are close, and really neither do Eminence and Celestion. Overall I find the Eminence speakers smoother than Celestions.
They are a great addition to one's gear options. And at the price they go for new, you can't beat em'.
