My next project is to rebuild my Fender Strat w/ Maple Neck

I'm looking for a bluesy/country twang sound

i.e.
BB King/Clapton/SRV/with a nice twang

Re: Your thought on these 3.....

I've used the flat QPer. Fat powerful SC pup. It would be great for blues rock, and if you get the tapped version, it sort of goes back to a vintage output/tone.

I've only used the tapped version in a Tele, and while the tapped mode isn't quite a vintage Tele bridge twanger, it did the trick ok.

Re: Your thought on these 3.....

-The Quarter Pounder is a hard rock pickup and a pretty good blues pickup. With 250k pots their too dark and with 500k pots their a bit bright. Shoot for a pot around 375k.
-The Cool Rails is a good blues pickup and can also do jazz fusion, but not country.
-I have no experience with the twang banger.
-You may want to consider the ssl-5 & ssl-6. The customs can do nearly anything and they can take a lot of distortion and still sound good.

Re: Your thought on these 3.....

I agree with the previous posts: the CR is NOT a "twang" pickup. It IS a powerful, warm pickup, though.

Re: Your thought on these 3.....

ok I looking for a good twangy feel for the Bridge pup. As for neck and Middle more on the warn, tubular, Blues side of things

Re: Your thought on these 3.....

Neck: Cool Rails for Strat SCR-1
Middle: Quarter Pound Staggered SSL-7
Bridge: Twang Banger™ APST-1

this was the order I was thinking of

Re: Your thought on these 3.....

I dont think the middle position of a strat is suited to much besides low output true singles. You'll destroy your notch positions if you use something hot like the QP.
