Could have been amusing if there were two necks going in opposite directions or something.

Re: Yuck

That's about the equivalent of Bill Gates getting hold of an iMac.

Re: Yuck

What is so crazy is that a guitar gear type magazine I was reading when those came out gave them very high ratings on tone and playability.

Me personally..... I think it's just awful!!!

Re: Yuck

Let me know what magazine so that I can avoid ever reading it. The location of the original tummy cut is now over the leg - too far from the neck to be comfortable, and probably impossible for those who play on the left leg like the classical position. The design all but renders anything past the 17th fret useless, which may or may not be an issue to some players and some styles, but not something I could deal with.

The jack location would very quickly get in the way - some sort of clip would be needed to keep the cable in place and away from the picking action. Not to mention the volume knob - I know about three guitar players who wouldn't hit that when strumming. Whoever gave that a good review on playability needs to be fired.

Re: Yuck

Update: Went to Harry's Music in Honolulu to see if they had any Black Squier '51s and lo and behold they had one of those bass ackward monstrosities on the floor in teal/seafoam with a tortoise pickguard. Given their limited selection I was puzzled as to why they bothered to order it.

Re: Yuck

I think they disn't quite get theJimmi Hendrix reverse strat concept quite right...

I mean, no cutaway... ok, we had to deal with that for a long time in a lot of instruments but thats just the worst design ever.
