Zexcoil pickups

Maybe I'm late to the party. I recently saw the Zexcoil pickup. It looks really cool. What's the deal with these?

Looks to me like a version of a P-bass pickup, but for a 6 string guitar.

Robert at Master Guitar Academy and Dolphin Street has some of those in a Strat. Check out his videos and reviews of those pickups. They sound really good to me. Pricey, but good.

All a zexcoil is is a normal pickup with grill marks.

They are great pickups, each pole consist of a rectangle magnet with a coil wrapped around it.

Tone is fantastic and there is no hum, but these are not the typical noiseless tone stealing pups.

Just a note - the poles aren't magnets. They're different alloys, depending on the sound they're going for. There are 2 or 6 magnets beneath the flatwork, depending on the line of pickup. I got a couple of these to put in my Parker, but they're as tall as a stacked single, so they don't fit in the thin body. Some exploded views:
