Zhangbucker

At the risk of pissing off Seymour, though I have bought a large number of his pickups over the years, I have gotten my first Zhangbucker.

I got the pure handwound widebucker, which is his pagey2, Alnico 2 8.3K humbucker.

I put it in my charvel san dimas and it is amazing! It sounds like a PAF, the mid range honk, the clarity, the bloom, it's all there.

Highly recommended!!

Re: Zhangbucker

Is it kind of on the bright and aggressive side, like I've been hearing?

Re: Zhangbucker

Actually quite the opposite. I put it in my brightest guitar and it really tamed it. It is a lower group of frequencies if that makes any sense.

Very warm, but I did not go high output. Done with that crap. Also, The Alnico 2 tames the high end as well.

My other pickup of choice is a '59 with a roughcast A2. To my ears, it is different than a Pearly Gates.

Re: Zhangbucker

I got one of his 'regular' wound Crushbuckers and it's awesome. Im thinking about a Pagey or Brown for the neck and I might need another LP to get a Pagey set for. His work is outstanding.

Re: Zhangbucker

He sounds like he makes great pickups, and it seems like people around here have had good results using his in conjunction with SD pickups. What I like most about them is that he doesn't charge an arm and leg.

Re: Zhangbucker

Except for the Pure Handwounds...

For the amount of time and effort you're putting into them it's dirt cheap.

Yeah, no kidding. Some dudes charge that amount of cash for what Zhang would consider a "regular" wind, and there are dudes over on the multiple Les Paul forums that say the PH series are a step above. Regardless, I dont care how he wound mine. Its awesome.

Re: Zhangbucker

I still haven't had the chance to thoroughly try my new Zhangbuckers with my tube amp. From the very little time I have had the chance to, it sounded great, though!
