Re: ZT Lunchbox - Should I buy one?
They retail around $280...not a bad amp for that price i guess...200 watts and what, a 10" speaker? Kinda crazy.
I like how it 'breaks up' tube amp style when you crank it but it 'breaks up' to that kinda buzzy solid state clipping...meaning it has realistic 'response' but not that great of tone.
I like that you can unplug the speaker out and push a 4x12 with it if you need to. For that reason it makes for a good 'backup' unit...leave it in your car as a go-to practice amp for any time...have it on hand just in case the Marshall blows some tubes...once you've got YOUR guitar and YOUR pedals and its plugged into YOUR cab it'll be close enough to your real amp...
For a couple a hundred bucks it's not bad...it's one of those times for me where i'd look at how much time it would take to save that money...and if it wouldn't take me much longer to save up twice that amount and buy something much better, I just do that instead...cuz for twice the cost of a Lunchbox, you can get a Night Train or a Spider Valve if you need hi-gain and effects built in...and those sound about 10 times better in my opinion.
