Here is another one of my humble demos... Hope you guys like it and think that it'd be of some use for some guy some time in the future...

:)

I thought that this pedal is quite a good one. I sorta liked it more than the Box of Rock. In fact, I have a comparison video as well, yet compiling this **** really takes a lot of time... I will be doing it later. This one has more options (does not have a boost though)... The lows are adjustable (subs 1 2 3) and there are two modes, high and low gain. Low gain corresponds to the Box of Rock... And its high gain is quite cool!

Nice Doc...I have the BOR...Wish the BOR had the gain switch,as it's woofy at times...I keep the boost function on fulltime though.

Re: Zvex Distortron: My Video Demo

Liked the lower gained tones more...The higher gained tones sound fuzzy/grainey on my computer...Loved the Warren Haynes stuff! ;o)

Re: Zvex Distortron: My Video Demo

Thanks John. I am a big Warren Haynes fan... He rules!

:)

The hi gain part is a bit "fuzzy". And I'd use the low gain setting, loved it. In fact, with the gain set on low, it is a box of rock, yet has some additional tweaks you know...

Yep familiar with both pedals...Bought my BOR when it first came out..Have had it awhile already.. ;o) The BOR is woofy and I Like the 3 way tone switch on your pedal alot...Thought about trying to add that to my BOR,but easier just to get the Distortron instead..My modding days are pretty much behind me(Least these days)..

Warren Haynes is also one of my favorites..Killer tone and feel..

Re: Zvex Distortron: My Video Demo

I don't know what to make of some of these big blatty distortions that fall in between metal gain and and a fuzz. My Fryette SAS is like that. I suppose the riff you started around 3:36 is the right type of riff.

I fight those pedals though, because I'd rather use my sweet sounding OD tone or full on fuzz. The distortion units that do everything in between aren't my favorite tones.

Re: Zvex Distortron: My Video Demo

GJ,

I kinda agree. Am not a big fun of them fuzzy sounding OD pedals actually. I kinda love the extremes, and would rather have a good sweet OD pedal and a wild fuzz... But this pedal's lo gain with the 3way bass switch makes it quite a good OD pedal you know...

Distortion vs Box of Rock... with a Strat and Fender Blues Jr.

Fast forward to 5:00... The start is about distortron with the strat...

Hope you like it.
