  • amp/efx delema again!!!

I am really liking my new Behringer GFX212 amp, only took a little tweeking.
I want to be able to use efx with it and the selection/quality on the amp is questionable.
my main debate is if I should get :

    1) individual stomp boxes (dist, chor, dely ect)

    2) atomic amp and L6 FBV (for use with my PODxt )

    3) TC Elec G-Major and a midi board (Behringer 1010)

    4) the new AXL multi efx board (list $295 I think) od,dist, chor, dly

    5) other

I should have about $450-500 to spend on said equipment in the next month.

Voted individual boxes, as that is what i know, and love & use myself !

I am NOT fond of multi's.
I would know, as my two cousins either had or have the Boss ME-50 & GT-8.
    Just not my cup o'tee.
(the fuzz simulations are reeeeal bad - FACT !!!)

There is one multi i want to spend my hard earned money on, BUT, it is not a "true" multi as we know it.
It is more like 5 seperate pedals in one casing !

    CARL MARTIN QUATTRO :

(they can be had for cheaper then that)

As you can see, it has TWO cascading gains (to be used seperately ot together), and it also has a FX in/out, so that you can ad some of your fav. FX boxes !

    My idea :

Guitars -->EHX Graphic Fuzz -->CM Quattro -->Carl Martin DeLayla XL -->AMP

I like to run a delay into another delay (delay-on-delay)

I also much prefer to use individual stomp boxes . . . if you decide you don't like something or don't need it any more, just take it out of the setup. If you think that something could sound better, just upgrade it . . . I love the flexibility.

          +1

When I firsted started out I got a multi FX as it did more for the $$ but slowly over time I've gravitated towards individual pedals, chopping and changing quite frequently.
I only know 3 chords but I play 'em real good

I still like the POD xt Live.

But I mostly use an amp and pedals these days.

Like I said in PM - if you've only got that Behringer amp, I'd definitely go for the atomic and floorboard for the XT.

                        Re: amp/efx delema again!!!

I am kinda in the same boat. I have an SFX-03 that I use for gain , and am getting a wah pedal. I want to have delay (with tap tempo) and chorus. would like to have the possibility of a little reverb and phaser / flanger kinda effects if I get in a mood for it. You guys that use stomp boxes, do you just find that you only need one setting on each effect ? I have not used them that much but it just seems that I would want several possible settings for each effect.
I started thinking however that maybe one delay setting plus tap tempo is all I need, and maybe one chorus setting would do also. Is this what you guys with more experience with effects have found ?
I would likely only use a multi effect for the above mentioned, no drive or amp modeling.

I'd vote, but as my previous post shows, my option is not listed in the poll.
