  • Best Speakers for Low Tunings?

I'm having a couple clarity issues with my crappy "Celestion made" speakers and I'm planning on replacing them with speakers that will better suit my baritone.

I've been eying up the Hot 100's from Celestion and I hear they have good low end bass response, but I was wondering if anyone knew anything better.

Depends on if you want clean metal sounds or sludgy doomy sounds.

Vintage 30's are not clear enough. I'm looking for something with a bit more definition on the bottom end.

I want something crisp and smooth sounding. A nice, resonant boom with clear highs.

V30's have just a little bit too little bass for me.

Actually, he's describing the Classic Lead 80.
The G12K-100 sounds more like a higher wattage G12T-75.

G12K don't have the scoop mids of the G12T. Sounds like he's describing a EVM12L to me though, haha.

You could try an Emi Swamp Thing or a Delta Pro will get you into EVM territory for a lot less $$$.

I've heard real good thing about Emi's Swamp Thangs, for lower tunnings.

It's a common misconception that 75's have scooped mids, but a look at it's freq chart shows it has plenty of mids. Only they are not in the upper range, but more so in the low mids. These low mids get swallowed up as a result of the big lowend the speaker puts out. So since players can't hear the mids, like they do on other speakers, they assume they aren't there.

If a G12K-100 sounds like a higher wattage G12T-75... What does a G12T-100 sound like?

Not sure, never heard one. Not many people have. The Hot 100 apparently has huge lowend handling capabilities. Not sure what the highs or mids sound like though. One offending freq. can really hurt a speaker.

swamps are gonna project the most bass for sure, but as far as an articulate high end you may wanna pair em with something like wizards or cl80's

I still think you want an EV or a Delta Pro, the DP shouldn't cost much more than the hot100 either.
