Does anyone know if there is a company that makes anything like the "Hot mod" Soldano made a few years back?

It was actually a pretty slick little mod that grabbed the rail voltage off the cathode follower plate circuit to power the extra gain stage - just unfortunate that triple triodes will likely disappear completely once the NOS stuff left out there is depleted.

Yeah, the Kasha Quick Mod, which is even better, but it's not cheap....$500, I think.
But it's a cool piece of gear, which you plug into the V1 socket of any amp that needs more gain....like old Marshalls or Fenders. It's an additional preamp stage, which you can dial in, unlike the Soldano.

There is actually one of those for sale near me if you really need one. $125NZ which is about $90us + shipping. If you paid me up front I could probably buy it and ship it to you if that is any help?
http://www.trademe.co.nz/Music-instruments/Instruments/Guitar-bass/Guitar-amps/auction-312802155.htmThe hot mod adds an extra gain stage and associated circuitry to make your amp scream with tone, gain, and sustain. It was designed for most marshalls and Fende...

That's a really cool offer. Just one more reason I love this forum.

I'm not saying that the Kasha is not a great peice and the Hot Mod was ather cool too but a good pedal can go a LONG way in adding a little extra gain to an amp.If you just read a post by The Guy Who Invented Fire please understand that opinions change, mind sets change and as players our ears mature...not to mention our needs grow and change. With that in mind, today I may or may not agree with the post you just read!
