  • Need help with Keeley DS1 settings for Marshall

Granted I haven't spent a day tinkering with the Keeley DS1 pedal, however I basically get similar tone from my amp. I have a show tonight where I would like to incorporate the DS1. What are some good settings I should try on both the Keeley and my DSL? I'm thinking about only using the Keeley to thicken up my amps distortion and a slight volume boost. Whats some other ways I cna use it?

    Stick with your amp's distortion.

IME, dirt pedals on a gain channel never worked for me. I just get mud.
If I know I'm going crazy, I must not be insane.

I hear ya. I tried using od pedals too, which saturates my amps distortion even more. It sounds too thin on the clean channel as well.

Keep the gain low but the level's high. I always find that helps me.... Makes the amps distortion feel more "bubbly" or "active" without adding too much fizz.

keep the gain on your amp normal, just use the DS1 as a boost. Set the volume all the way up, the gain either all the way off or just a hair above, and the tone knob to your liking.

+1. This is how I always used my OD pedals with my JCM 800. You can fiddle with the tone knob to give your leads a slightly different tone, so it comes out better though the mix. Give it a little more treble than your normal OD tone, or scoop the mids a bit more.

Those Keely mod pedals are supposed to have really good tone.

              Turn it into a TSL:

              Clean sound
Crunch sound on the dirt channel
              DS1 + Clean for uber-lead tone
