The Marshall MB450H

Purveyor of Low End
The Marshall MB450H is a powerhouse bass amp head. It has a massive 450W of total bass power when connected to 2 extension cabinets. Both channels-Modern and Classic-have separate EQ. The Modern channel features bass, treble, parametric mid and a compressor. The Classic channel with its ECC83 preamp valve includes a Boost switch, and it has a 3-band passive tone network with 3 different voices. Like the high-wattage Marshall combo amps, the MB450 bass head has the option of blending the 2 channels either from the front panel or via a supplied 2-way footswitch. I'm looking for a good back up system that doesn't weigh a ton and won't bust the bank. What are your thoughts on this head?

Re: The Marshall MB450H

That little SS marshall combo sucks dude. If you want to go marshall, get the VBA400... not many ppl know about these, but those that do have one, know it's the best tube bass amp ever ! (my father has one by the way. He is a local bassist.)

But, for a backup this isn't practical(price wise). A decent alternative is an ampeg v4bh (it a 100 watt tube bass amp, modeled after the original v4b. But it's a modern remake. these can be had for 400$ through ebay on a good day. It would make a great backup IMO)
