Most folks will go for the AA864, then the AB165 if they can't find the one they want. Easy enough to convert them over.

5F6, of course is the grail Bassman circuit.

the 5f6 doesnt have to be all that saggy. there is alot of bottom end from the amp and the stock speakers usually cant really handle it.

i really like the blonde bassmans

why not look into a Marshall, they were loosely based on the 5f6 circuit.

I was lucky enough to play two side by side once at a shop with the matching cabs--if I'da had $3 grand it woulda been gone and I probably wouldn't be on this forum asking about other amps.

The blonde is sorta halfway between the blackface and the tweed--it's still got some mid grind to it and breaks up more, but has more lows and highs than the tweed. The presence knob is a cool thing to have, too.

The aa864 is one of the holy grail blackface amps, so that's pretty much what you can expect.

The bass channel on the BF was a little more usable, but if I had the money and came across either I'd snatch it up in a heartbeat, they're both great guitar amps.
