Re: Finally getting around to finishing up some more cabs

Ayrton your work is superb! I'm tempted to get an empty (or cheap) 4 x 12 now when one comes up and have a go myself. If I was in your part of the world I'd happily pay you to do work for me. I had a white 1987x with a purple Hendrix cab and the 2 together was my favorite looking rig. I'll post a pic if I can find one. Anyway, great work bud.

I want another rig that looks like this

Yeah but I'm telling you that if YOU had covered those 2 then they would have been alot better based on what I've seen of your work. Marshalls attention to details falls somewhat short yours.

Great work there Ayrton. There's no cutting corners for you!

How do you feel about using foam in the inside of the cab? Some companies seem to do this to their 'high gain' cabs. It's also more common in home or studio speakers.
I did it to my JCM800 Lead - 1960 cab and really like it. The plastic hardware is not something I'd expected on Marshall cabs. Thanks for posting that link, I've been wanting to get a pair of metal handles.

I have to constantly remind myself, that if I make it "too perfect" then it is not factory correct. Thankfully that does give me some margin for error because no two ever go the same way.

Using foam or poly fill material is a way to "tighten up" the sound. It really comes down to personal preference.

Re: Finally getting around to finishing up some more cabs

Well here is today's progress. I still have some tweaking to do on the grill cloth, and I am out of the correct screws for the handles.

After a trip to the store, I will finish this one tomorrow.

The white piping, and logo are the originals.

Nice work! I have a mid 70's era Marshall cabinet that needs to be restored. One day I'll get around to it.
