  • Yamaha TC-50c Questions

I just picked up one of these in a pawn shop; I have a couple of questions that I hope some of you can shed light on. Just to set the scene...I am not an engineer, so...English would be great.

    1. I did a search for a manual with no luck...any ideas?
    2. There are 7 AX7 tubes...one is missing. The amp works (so far), but can I damage it by using it before I get another tube? Could this just be the reverb tube?
    3. It is pretty old and I don't know the history, so...should I just replace all of the tubes or just play away and deal with it when something goes bad?
    4. Anything else I can check on my own...without doing The Green Mile?

I really appreciate the help as I am really inexperienced when it comes to amp tech stuff.
    Happy New Year All!

      Thank you for the response.
What do you think in general about playing the amp with a missing tube for now...okay or...don't do it?

Thats a very good amp. Its a bastards Soldano like StratD. said. Its like my bastard Lee jackson Crate. They are real good amps that really arent being made any longer at anywhere near the pricepoint vis-a-vis quality range any longer.

Call the guys at Soldano when you can,so you can rest easy...Does the reverb work? Might be the reverb tube? Not a bad amp,but a very bright lead side...Bruce Egnater modded my buddie's 100 watt head though..It's alot better than the stock version.

I think there's a lot I can do with this amp. May start with a speaker swap...but I'll play it for a bit first. I emailed Soldano, so...

PM B_Bent here on the forum - he has a buddy who's a big wig at Yamaha. Maybe he can hook you up with some documentation.

^^^^ I forgot that you met John that night at the Fox Theater. I actually have a copy of the manual I can email from when I had two of these amps. I will be back later to respond to this thread.

Send me a PM w/ your email and I will send you the manual.
