Pedal Order Thread...

In the last year I've learned the importance of volume, texture, and touch.

In turn, it's caused me to rework my board and rig.

So, check it, I've never used some of these pedals on "the reg" before but my current song/riff writing has made me work them into my ears. Generally, I've used them separately, but now I need to used them together...

Anyway, here's the pedals + functions used...

EHX LPB-1 Linear Power Booster (lead/clean boost)

EHX Signal Pad ("2nd channel" on single channel Epiphone Valve Special)

EHX Little Big Muff (color/grit)

Boss OC-2 Octave (girth)

Danelectro Cool Cat Tremolo (picket fences, helicopters, etc)

Boss RV-3 Digital Delay/Reverb (echo, echo, echo)


...so, any idea how I should arrange these bad boys?

I switched only the Signal Pad and the Linear PB from your original post... That's how I'd arrange them.

I like to have dirt first and delay last

I want my overdrive delayed, not my delay distorted.

Edit: I have never used the Signal Pad, so from what I gather I assume it's to be used almost as a "channel switcher" for single channel amps. The way I would use it is as a "preset lower volume" from the guitar.... In other words, the amp is loud, the pedal is turned down... Off the pedal induces overdrive, on it is the "clean channel"

Personally I'd ditch the LPB and get a TS808/9 (or clone), simply to make the Lil'muff more usable in a band setting (boost mids so you're heard, and tighten up the low end a bit)...Or get a different muff all together (like a Musket, Swollen Pickle MkII, etc...something that lets you control the mids)...but thats just me...Anyways, With your current setup I'd go...

Guitar > OC-2 > Signal Pad > Muff > Tremolo > Delay > LPB > Amp

If you do get a TS style Over drive, then I'd go...

Guitar > OC-2 > Signal Pad > TS > Muff > Trem > Delay > Amp

youve got the signal pad before the muff.

that means youre still getting noise from the muff when the pad is on.

im assuing you meant to leave the muff by itself?

Nope, I meant it to be exactly as I wrote it...
The Signal pad is a passive Volume control, same as the volume knob on your guitar. It'll work before or after the muff...But before the muff you can use it to get a slightly different character/slightly cleaner sound outta the muff...and still use it to clean up the amp if you want to.
Makes more sense to me to have it before all drive pedals, than to have it after them. Most people will use the signal pad to clean up a dirty amp/pedal...So might as well put it before any dirt.

Unless he's planning to use it as a mute...in which case it would make most sense to put it after the dirt boxes....But if thats the case, I'd assume he'd have a kill box, rather than a signal pad.
