    Speaker swap

    Fender Mustang IV has 2-12 inch Celestion G12P-80 speakers
    Fender specification indicates that each speaker is 8 ohm and rated at 75 watts
    These are rather cheap, cheesy sounding side of Celestion speakers…

    What would you recommend for a better set of speakers?

    1) Two of the same type
    2) Mixed with two different types
    3) Which brand and models

    Please select from the following list:

    based on my own Emi experience using the TH with my Tweaker, I can now recommend the Texas Heat for versatility. It's not too bright for thick british sounds, or too midrangey and wooly for blackface fendery stuff. I dunno what to pair it with besides another Texas heat. I'd say the RWnB if I wasn't afraid of the TH getting drowned out. 99dB vs 102 dB.
    Maybe the G12T-75? 97 dB, and the G12T is kinda warm and thick in a way that might be "just similar but different enough" to work well.

    I'd say start with two of the same kind until you find something you know you like. Then change one of them to add what's missing, if anything.

      All of the Webers you have listed can be purchased ratted for 15, 30, 50, 75, or 100 watts.

        I've been trying several speakers for the Mustang III I'm getting next month as the MII I actually have doesn't serve me as intended due to the lack of tweakablity from the front panel. I've programmed some outstanding presets, but if I need to tweak something while I'm playing live, most parameters are available through the FUSE software only.

        The best speaker for the Mustang is the Celestion G12-65, but it won't handle 100W. Ergo, my choice would be either the Eminence Tonker or the Tonker lite. Those are the ones that sound closest to the Celestion... and are Robben Ford approved SECOND speaker of choice. What is the first? You've guessed... the G12-65!

          Why not use one Governor and one Patriot...sort of a "best of both worlds" approach?

            My vote is a toss up between tone tubbies or evm 12l.

              its a modelling amp right? You should get something really hifi sounding with a flat response so you get the most out of the different models. Id suggest the evm

                The G12k-100 works great for modelling amps.

                Swamp Thang is smooth but has all the frequencies covered. I think it should sound great with your amp.

                I haven't tried them myself, but I've heard good things about the Tonker, Texas Heat, and Red White and Blues as well.
