If you're of the DIY persuasion, Madbean Pedals sell PC boards for the "Fat Pants" booster. It uses an internal chip to kick up the 9-volt supply to 18 volts, and then has an FET preamp designed after the EP-3's front end. I built one and it sounds great as an always-on tone booster/shaper. Not really enough clean gain to use it as a solo boost, but highly recommended as secret sauce.
