  • Between the Ruby 6L6 and JJ 6L6

Which would you say is more "robust"? That is, which would fair better in a 50 watt practice combo, being transported, through Minnesota winter temps, vibration, abuse, lions, tigers, bears, etc?

what ruby 6l6? they dont make tubes so not sure what they are selling at the moment. i had an old set of ruby 6l6 that were great but that was damn near 15 years ago.

the jjs are a hard sounding tube but not sure how they fair in the van.

the best thing you can do is give it as long as possible to heat up and cool down. hot stuff doesnt like to be banged around

Right on, I do like the JJs for metal. I think the Ruby 6L6s are Chinese?

ive not tried rubies, but i like jjs in preference to EH6l6, Sovtek5881 and Groove Tubes/fender 6l6 if thats any help. Dunno about robust - any tube can fail if its abused. You could get some vibration damping rings (i have some on 2 of my amps) but i reckon they are probably snake oil.
