Do they sell jacks that hook up to the clips, so theres no soldering?

I did not find anything in a search

Not to my knowledge, no. Wouldn't be a good idea anyway.

why would it be a bad idea? I want to bypass the speaker in the combo and run directly to a cab

Re: Adding An External Speaker Jack to Combo Amp

So the internal speaker is connected directly and not via a jack...well that kinds sucks. A properly designed amp will have the internal speaker connected to the amp via a jack to make it easy to bypass the internal speaker.

        (Pics would help here)

If your combo is of the standard open back type you could mount a jack to the back baffle. Then disconnect the internal speaker and hook up the wires to the new jack. You might find a jack with screws but soldering would be better. Beware the impedance of the internal speaker and that it match the impedance of the extension cab.

I'm guessing the OP has those press-fit spade type connectors?

AMP: Just get a female 1/4" jack and solder the proper press-fit male/female connector to the 1/4" jack. I think those press-fit connectors are crimp style. Easy!

SPEAKER: Then attach the press-fit connectors to 2 wires and solder to a male 1/4" jack. This way you can use the same male plug for either speaker.
If I know I'm going crazy, I must not be insane.

Re: Adding An External Speaker Jack to Combo Amp

I was gonna swap the speaker out but ended up tearing the old one. Didnt want to risk tearing the new one (combos r tight fit and pita)

Anyways, I slid the clips onto the jack and it works ok. Stock speaker was 8ohms and running it through 8ohms 2x12 cab with V30's Just need to drill a hole in back and make it permanant
