  • MXR Smart Gate user's HELP!!!

I need a noise gate.....ASAP. I know ISP (G string) makes one of the best gates known to

man in a small pedalboard friendly size. Problem is they aren't cheap even used

they've been fetching close to $200 on ebay. I was curious how the MXR Smart

Gate stacks up against the ISP G string. I just want a gate that doesn't cut off

your sustain/harmonics/fast legato playing all while killing the hiss from my high

gain channel and not f up my clean channel if I leave it on all the time. Is this

possible or am I just another guitar player that has delusions of grandeur?

Haven't tried the Smart Gate 'cuz I'm very pleased with how my Boss NS2 works. Very transparent and takes out background hiss and noise without affecting the tone.
If I know I'm going crazy, I must not be insane.

I have both the smart gate and the isp decimator. The smart gate does good in front of the amp and the decimator does better in the loop. So..... for front of amp either does a good job... for the loop get the ISP.
