Re: Any Marshall AVT50 Head users?

AVT amps need AVT speakers to get the high-end crunch to sound decent. The AVT50 combo sounds like crap, it has a real cheap speaker. I think the other AVT combo and cabinets have 100 watt speakers that are voiced specially for the AVT amps. The AVT275 (2x12) is probably the best of the bunch, still not great by any means. The built-in effects are in stereo. Some guys recommend taking off the back panel so the speakers can breathe and sound clearer, and replacing the cooling fan.

I wouldn't bother with an AVT50, head or combo. If you run across a deal on one of the other models, play it first and see what you think. They're certainly better-sounding than the MG series, but you're better off putting your money in a used traditional tube Marshall like a DSL40.
