  • TwinTube classic squeal

i got this pedal in a trade about 2 years ago. it squealed pretty bad, so i ordered some new tubes and soldered them in (yes, i'm a tech). still exactly the same squeal after the new tubes installed. just great.

any ideas on what else can cause the problem? any idea what SD charges to repair these pedals?

    Re: TwinTube classic squeal

is the Squeal a gradually increasing howl
or more of a high ring

howl would be a solder joint heating and opening
touch of an iron would solve that

the ringing would be something else I'm afraid

      Re: TwinTube classic squeal

it's been so long since i messed with the pedal....i think it was mostly a high pitched squeal when the distortion/gain was cranked up.

i was hoping someone had some info like a certain solder joint or part was the usual suspect for this problem.

i'm pretty sure that it ain't the tubes, since the problem is exactly the same as the previous tubes. what's the chances that two sets of tubes are exactly the same microphonically? i can tap on the tubes and it doesn't change the squeal either.
