Well, the basic Quad is 23 years old at least. Alesis created some really decent equipment, but I'm not sure that this ranks up there with the best. They seemed kinda noisy to me at the time. If you can get one stupid cheap, as you stated, and you like the sound of it in front of your old Valvestate, then more power to ya, bud.

      Yeah,I'm on teh fence.
Main use will be f/x,mebbe a little drive & noise gate.
A buddy used one a long time ago,it def seemed to "impart it's character" thru his 5150,but not so much detrimentally, kinda smoothed it out.

Got pedals(looking for a good cheap OD),it just happens to be avaliable on the cheap...

Thamx for the input,H/C reviews are "pretty OK".

Now even the cheap digital stuff leaves it for dead.

          An oldie but a goodie.

I'd hit it in the loop for chorus/delay/verb

But as mentioned....an RP50 can probably kick it's @$$ today.

Likely a lot of hassle and only so-so performance by 2010 standards. So unless it's $20, maybe not.

I'd hit a Yamaha SPX-90 all day any day though...

The overdrive stinks. I mean like really bad. The chorus and reverbs are great for guitar, nice and smokey sounding. The delays are acceptable too. It's best in stereo. It seems like their best efforts went into making the stereo images. I like the parametric EQ in it a lot for guitar also. Do not put it in front of the Marshall. Put it in the effects loop. If you really want to use the compressor, then plug into the GT, run the GT's send to the amp, the amps send to the return of the GT, and the output to the amp's return. Basically split the GT into a preamp and an effects unit. That's how they designed it anyway.

Define "stupid cheap". I see Midiverb 4's going for $40-$50 on craigs a lot.
