  • These little 1watt Marshalls . . .

    . . . are bloody expensive !

Has anyone looked into them yet ?
I did a search, and nothign came up on the Amp Forum, so i thought i'd ask.

Who is thinking of gettting one of these baby Marshalls ?

    Can a 1watt amp from 2012 really sound like a cranked vintage JTM45 ?

Is this a quick way to make some fast money ?

What do you folks think ?

      Re: These little 1watt Marshalls . . .

I was interested until I saw the prices and there is just no way...

Will they sound like the amps they are voiced after...a little I guess but you have to keep in mind that for example the JTM-45...a lot of what folks hear in a JTM-45 has to do with them being cranked and that means volume.

I think they are neat and a cool idea for collectors but I'm not a collector and have no interest in a piece like that with no real world use and such a high cost.
If you just read a post by The Guy Who Invented Fire please understand that opinions change, mind sets change and as players our ears mature...not to mention our needs grow and change. With that in mind, today I may or may not agree with the post you just read!

They sound good, but I wouldn't pay more than $200 for one.

At $750 a piece, they can keep them.

a 1 watt amp is gonna be just that = a 1 watt amp

no way I can make my 5 watt epiphone valve junior sound like a 100 watter. never heard a 1 watt sound close really

A 1-5w Bluesbreaker would be fun.

They look cool and, from what I've heard sound really good for 1 watt amps designed after legendary amps.

A 1 watt amp is really home and appartment friendly for dirt sounds. I'd actually love to own a few of them but yeah, too expensive. If they ever do another run made in indonesia, china or whatchamakallitkistan to bring the prices down, I'm on them.

I really don't get it. The Class 5 amps are made in England and the heads are what $350 cheaper? I know they are limited edition or whatever, but nothing that makes them worth double the cost of a Class 5. $500 max and even that's a stretch.

prediction: they will eventually come down in price and then most everyone will suddenly hate them.

ya, 5 watts or 1/4 watt is too loud for an apartment either way, so getting a super cheap class 5 used is the best bet for what I would do if I was into it that much, not like you can crank it in a quieter apartment from what I have gathered after researching to the ends of the earth about all 1/4 watt amps and iso cabs and stuff just not cost effective and still not gonna sound like a heavy driven beast

I don't know why marshall is soooo slow to roll out stuff like 1 watters and 15 watt combos, I would dig a 15watt jcm800 style combo for sure. glad ORANGE is up to the task

From the clips I've heard they sound fantastic but there's no way I'd pay that much for something like that.

It would be, and it is. It's called the "Class 5."
