  • What flanger are you rockin'?

Still searching for that holy grail of flanger tones. Problem is, I'm not sure if one really exists. My taste in flangers seems to change from time to time. Flanging is one effect I always seem to buy for my rig.

Right now I'm rockin' the EHX Electric Mistress.

Boss BF-2......simple and straight to the point! I've got it set up to provide a pretty ridiculous flange that sounds awesome, in my opinion! I don't want it to be subtle! I've had an MXR and an ADA in the past, keep coming back to this almost universally hated BOSS!
Only you can decide what "good" sounds like!

Ibanez AF-2 Airplane Flanger. Almost traded it for an MXR but I just keep finding all kinds of cool new tones in it.

MXR newly fitted to my pedalboard. Will get its first rehearsal run out tomorrow evening.

I'm also jonesing somewhat for an MXR M-117R; kinda kicking myself for passing up one recently that went for $80, but not sure how much I'd use it at the end of the day, as I don't really use much fx in general.

Favourite flanger I've ever had was the Boss BF-2. Nowadays I use the Line 6 M13, so I just use whatever model I like the best.

None - however, seriously looking at:

Digitech X-series Turbo Flange - Because there is no ultimate flange tone. To me, it's an effetct, color. More colors is better. This has a few.

Boss BF-2 - See WahWah's reason. Classic is classic.

Ibanez CF-7 - For the Whacked mode. Plus chorus! Think about it.

ADA and Mistress are the go to's though in the big scheme of things.

Boss BF-3. Gone is the annoying metallic sound that the BF-2 has. Sounds excellent running in stereo and...has tap tempo!

Hartman. It's a Mistress clone but better built and w/o the volume drop. Filter mode is not as intense as a Mistress but it doesn't matter too much as I don't really ever use it.

I use an early 80's era Ibanez FL-9.
