  • Watt knob is an attenuator?

I have a laney ironheart amp with a watt knob. Is it actually a built-in attenuator or is it a real working knob that can dial the wattage of the amp?

I think it will be some kind of variable voltage system that lowers the voltages in the amp and tracks the bias also lowering that to keep everything in line.

        Does it work well?

I've only ever experienced them in low wattage amps where it sounds kinda naff once you get below 75%

There's pretty much no difference in dynamics between 100 to 10 watts but lower than 10 overdrive starts to sound like fuzz. It's a great amp for the money
