  • New Vox Night Train

Been hanging out in my work shop tonight and checking out my buddy AJ's Vox Night Train. Just got it from Trevorus.

Been running it though my Matchless one 12 cab with a vintage Celestion G1265 speaker and my other Matchless cab with a pair of vintage Celestion G12 alnico speakers.

    Sounds best through the 1 x 12.

The other amp is a "Bluestone" 50 watt head Bruce at Mission Amps built and gave me for Christmas a few years ago. It's like a Marshall.

This little Night Train is fun! Lot's of overdrive tones in that little toaster.

Not a lot of genuinely clean tone - this little head seems to be all about overdrive tones and it has some good ones.

I can see why the kids love it - it's a lot of fun. AJ's going to like it.

Vox is making great amps these days, they are pretty much my favorite amp company at this point. .

One of the best amps I ever owned was a reissue AC30. This little Night Train doesn't have much in the way of an AC30 cleaner tones. But it's overdriven lead tones and crunchy rhythm tones are pretty darned good.

I'm having a ball tonight just wailing away and rockin' out on some British blues.

I wonder why they call it Night Train. .

Kids...the Night Train only runs at night. Like many musicians.

Welcome back, Lew. I'm looking at a Night Train myself.

Thanks! For $300 new it's a pretty killer little head. It has some decent clean tones but this little guy seems to be all about overdrive.

Wish I could keep it a little longer but it's not mine.
