Earthbound Supercollider <---> Black Arts Pharaoh <---> Black Arts LSTR

Which one "chugs" better? (As in, stays together/focused/articulate while heavily chugging)

I can't decide which would be better for me.
    I want a fuzz that can handle both a Down/Corrrosion of Conformity/Mastodon
type "fuzz" and also a Sleep "Holy Mountain" and/or "Dopesmoker" fuzz.

    I play through a RedBear MK60 & MK120 which are the same
schematics as a JCM 800 (ptp hand wired), but with 6L6's.

    What do you guys think/recommend?

I dig my pharaoh as far as fuzz chugs go thru my thunderverb50 for sleep

but for down/coc/mastodon, I would not recommend fuzz, but rather distortion/overdrive. my proco ratII handles chugging for this type of music excellently

I think Mastodon uses a Zvex Mastotron

Re: Supercollider <---> Pharaoh <---> LSTR

I had the Supercollider for a few weeks, I just didn't have a use for it at the time. Wish I'd kept it, because since I returned it I started a stoner doom band that it would sound great for. Right now, I use a Basic Audio Tri/Ram muff and it's pretty good for that kind of stuff, but a bit more classic in voicing.

The Supercollider is much more modern, and I think you'll like it most for that kind of music. The bass control is wonderful for shaping the tightness and growl of the low end. The clipping selector is also extremely useful at maximizing your chug.

I saw High on Fire in December and for what it's worth, Matt didn't even use the Pharaoh - he the only fuzz on his board was a D.A.M. Sonic Titan. Dunno what he was using when I saw Sleep about a year ago, IIRC he had THREE Soldanos instead of the two he used with HoF.

If it lives up to Cavity's Supercollider it's full of win.

ya! black arts makes a pharaoh/black forest combo, that is the one I would get.

but for stacking fuzzes, I would look no further than than Sarc!

You can not go wrong with Black Arts, imo.

Yeah I'm mostly leaning towards that one.

But I also just came across a pedal called the "fuzz o)))" from sunmachine...Model T in a box!
