  • Good way to build a JTM-45 repro?

    Whaddaya think about these kits:

    combo for $1,210 complete: http://www.mojotone.com/amp-parts/am...t#.UVEPxhmvUy4

    head for $871 complete: http://www.mojotone.com/amp-parts/am...t#.UVEQBBmvUy4

Still expensive! But I'd love a JTM-45, and putting together a kit is an experience I'd like to have.

With the head, I could lower to cost by $220 by making my own cabinet...but the materials would still cost me something.

So, would you go the "kit" route, or is there a clone out there that you'd recommend instead?

    Thanks.

Try Phaez amps. They have some low - mid powered versions of JTM amps......and they're in the $650-700 range for chassis. They do have options to get cab's made to your specs too.

I've been looking into JTM45 kits lately as well and if you look at component quality to cost ratio the Mojotone kit is hard to beat

I would get a Metropolous as he seems to have gotten the replica details sorted out already. I believe he sells kits, but I could be wrong. A complete JTM45/38w head from him is just under 3 grand.

I think for 3 grand a guy could get about any amp he wanted.

Not ANY amp - I played an original mint condition JTM45 a few weeks back. It was awesome but would have set me back £10,000 ($15,000).

Go for it. I did a Metro JTM45 and it turned out good.

I did not realize that kits were THAT expensive. You could buy an awesome, used, boutique amp for 1200 dollars.
Just depends on how much loose cash you have.....
I would be tempted to buy a Ceriatone, then source the tranny set, cab and speaker from the USA.
But maybe that sums to close to 1200.?
                    I don't know.
I have built A Lot of conversions that are So Much cheaper. But then you have to deal with another skill set. It is a constant and on going hobby for me, so it is no big deal.
If you are looking for a cosmetically professional looking kit, maybe 1200 is where you will end up.
                    good luck

I think triode electronics do kits using decent parts for around $400
