    whats the worst that can happen if i put in one tung sol, and one jj into a 5e3?

    It will sound like crap [ worst ] Could sound great. Mismatched works in guitar amps where a bit of mismatch distortion adds to it. where as the original contention for using matched tubes comes from the audiophiles who wanted pristinely clean sound.
    There shouldn't be any electronic issues except maybe a re-bias.

        ive done it plenty of time in my 5e3. I rarely gig it so its just for jamming with friends or open mics so I just throw whatever in there

          Think about the time when those amps were new - if you blew a tube, you pulled it and jumped on your bike and rode to the drug store to buy a new one. Or maybe if you needed help you'd go see a TV repairman who would just sell you a new tube, install it, and send you on your way. Nobody was matching these things to optimize 'TONE'.
