    You could try an nos MULLARD CV4024/12AT7WA (80's production only) in the PI spot. It won't thin your sound out at all compared to a 12AX7 (earlier versions were a different design and will!) & sounds amazing. Warm full & sweet/open with extended airy highs and a firm, deep low end.

    They're cheap(er) in the UK as well (GBP 15-20 nos/nib)

      hi guys,
      you use a term called the pI spot in my amp, v1 I guess is the first preamp tube, where the p1 ??????

        PI (phase inverter) is the last one before the power tubes
