I have played both amps but never could attach to the 50w version like I did to the 100w version. I have heard couple of people say the same thing but I'd like to know what other people think. Does the 50w lack some of the mojo the 100w has?

Re: EVH 5150 III 100w vs 50w
I was tempted to get a 50W, but ended up gettinga good old fashioned 5150II instead. The 120W feel just right to me (although I still manage to practise with ear plugs at about 1.5 if that). Me lead guitarist has a 60W Ironheart and at about 6 he cant compete with my 5150II, not sure I would "uopgrade" to a 50W 5150III.Ibanez RG7620 and RG1527 w/ SD Nazgûl/Sentient pickups.
Ibanez Jem 555 x2 (White Black)
Epiphone Custom Alpine White
Epiphone LP standard with SD Alnico Slash Pickup
Epiphone Zakk Wylde Custom
PRS SE Paul Allender
Peavey 5150II
Www.soundcloud.com/fyregods singer and drummer wanted.

Re: EVH 5150 III 100w vs 50w
I think the biggest issue is the shared channels on the 50w. Ive contemplated getting one myself but cannot get over the shared eq on the 50. I would spend the extra dough and get the 100w, even if I played at low volume. just my 2 cents
