  • Light on my Dark Terror went out

    Hey guys,

So Sunday when I was playing my Dark Terror I noticed the light on it went out, still worked fine otherwise. Played through it fine, came back for a second helping and it lit up, so I figured there wasn't any issue. Yesterday, worked fine. Today, light won't go on again. This isn't a big deal because it still produces sound, but how would I go about fixing this? I assume there's an LED inside?

    Thanks!

So.....it is not the old Fender Style...6 Volt...that you access from the front of the jewel cover.?
I bet the on-line (or you probably have a copy) manual will tell you what you need to know.

One of the wires to the LED is probably loose. It happens - easy fix.

get in touch with Orange. they might send a replacement.

Alternatively, consider replacing it for a regular lamp assembly. the LED probably also runs 6V so it should be an uncomplicated procedure (but take it to an amp tech if you're not comfortable doing it yourself)

Looked at it again, unscrews from the front like zz said. No mention of it in the manual though. Going to have to figure out how to get this bulb out though, which once I see it doesn't look like any sort of LED I've ever seen.

Push it in and twist counterclockwise, I guess.

^^^^^^^ As above. The fixture is spring loaded...the bulb has two nubs on it. You push in, and then turn the bulb...then release it, and it will slide out.
They do not always give you much leverage to grab the tip of the bulb...sometimes a little tape will stick to the glass better than your fingers can...or even a judicious use of needle nose pliers.

Sorry for my glib response, but I just feel old when I realize that we now have to explain to people how to change a light bulb.

It is probably unlike any other bulb he has had to deal with.....usually they screw in...or maybe even snap in, like and LED socket...even the "old" flash-lights used a small screw-in bulb.
He has probably never encountered one of these before.....

Yeah, I've never dealt with a light bulb setup like this before. Not much room to maneuver so I didn't want to screw around with it and break it when I can ask people with experience about it. Thanks for the help!
