    Re: New Grandmeister Day

Thanks, Bloodrose. I just kept an eye out for one to pop up locally used. Picked the GM,carry case, cords, foot controller and a madison 2x12 cab(with L6 speakers) for $900 off Craigs list. The Madison cab will just get thrown back on there. Not on the same level as the Jet City or Carvin cabs.
I thought that was pretty good considering the GM with foot controller sells new for around $1400.

Oh yeah! Heckuva deal! Especially considering your gonna get more back.. Like a rebate...haha
Believe me when I say that some of the most amazing music in history was made on equipment that's not as good as what you own right now.

Yep, that's the way I see it too. That's why I jumped on this one right away. I have my little envelope that I put a bit of guitar/gear money into each month. That way when something does pop up, I have something to put towards it, and the wife can't get mad.

Nice score! Actually the GM36 will be my next amp, assoon as I sell my Line6 DT 25 112 and its extension cab.

Not that I'm unhappymwith the sounds I get from it, it's just that a good sounding, light, fully programmable valve head is too good to pass along.

Have you tried it with speakers other than the V30's ? The user reviews state that it sounds a bit shrill, which is my main concern regarding the amp, since I get warm tones from my current setup.

Not really. 4x12 has the V30's and the 2x12 has the Carvin GT12-6's which are similar to V30's. I'm thinking about trying a couple of WGS Reaper HP's in the 2x12. I heard they're work well with the Meister series to tame the highs. I've also heard that some guys like to use Greenbacks or Creambacks.

That is a really clever design, too: the end caps make up the handles and connect the top and bottom plates and provide protection all at the same time, the plexi front allows them to have everything all in one piece with just the stamped metal making up the back and top. And it looks like the chassis itself makes up the bottom? I'm guessing it's pretty light, it's obviously pretty compact, AND it looks cool and distinctive. Someone is very smart. It's like the Apple of amplifiers.

I just noticed the guitar. Are those M22 pickups? I have one in my home-built guitar and I really like it.

                  Thanks, Dave.

Actually, those are the Carvin H22n Holdworth in the neck and the C22b in the bridge.

I have a C22b at home but haven't had a chance to try it out yet. Too busy getting my own amp & speaker sorted out.

Sweet amp. Besides sounding good, they sure are photogenic. (I have the little TM-5.)

                        Enjoy.

Thanks, Guys. I'm really enjoying the GM amp. I am going to order some WGS Reaper HP's though for the JC 2x12 cab. I keep hearing how those really bring the most in this amp. And it'll be fun experimenting with different speakers.
