  • Trainwreck Clone

Picked up a "Frankenstein" Amp today - based on a Trainwreck/Komet circuit by Ken Fischer. 40 watts, one channel, 2x12" combo, Gain/Treble/Middle/Bass/Volume with Eminence Speakers.

Super responsive to picking...like immediate, functions very quietly with zero hum, love the tones I can get just messing with the minimalist controls - particularly the Gain/Volume, and, it is loud!

In keeping with Ken Fischer’s naming tradition of giving his amps feminine names; I’ve dubbed it “Anna Nicole”...the biggest TRAINWRECK I could think of!!!

    Cool!

    Bill
When you've had budget guitars for a number of years, you may find that your old instrument is holding you back. A quality guitar can inspire you to write great songs, improve your understanding of the Gdim chord while in the Lydian Mode, cure the heartbreak of cystic acne--and help you find true love in the process.

Thanks! Ran across one that peaked my interest in a trade offer a while back. That one was made from a converted old Fender 2x12 Amp but it made some noise, etc. when it wasn't being played and only had one 12" hooked up in it. Plus the guy wanted $800.00.

Drove out to take a look at this Trainwreck Clone and they also had a Fender 100 Watt Red Knob "Evil Twin", way loud and it had some "cool" to it but it was plagued with noise/hum and the switching was at best “semi-functional”. I was able to snag the Clone for $350 so it was a "no brainer".

Honestly; I’m loving it! Super responsive to picking, clean and quiet with gain turned down and turn it up and it’s a nice thicker yet defined meaty tone. My wife said it sounds “particularly loud”; I took that as a compliment. Does well with single coils as well as humbuckers and impressively picks up the tonality of the instrument/pickups you have plugged into it.
